My daughter has been taking tumbling classes at a gym close to us. One day last fall I got a phone call from my husband and my daughter after a tumbling class. They both sounded excited so I was assuming she learned a new flip. To my surprise they were excited to share that she’d been invited to join the cheer team…and my husband had already said YES!
I was a few weeks postpartum, running on fumes and nipple cream, so my first thought was honestly “no way in hell is she doing cheer…that’s a huge investment of time and she’s only 3 for crying out loud”, but instead I said “let’s talk about it when yall get home”
When they got home my daughter was talking non-stop about cheering and flipping and being on a team, and well that was enough to convince me to let her try it…I know…I’m a sucka. But my girl was happy and I figured the worst that would happen is she’d hate it and we just wouldn’t sign up again next season.
Well that was nearly 4 months ago and now we are gearing up for our SECOND competition of the season.
Guess this means I’m officially in my cheer mom era.
Any other parents out there get roped into something because of their kids enthusiasm?
